How to Keep Your iPhone Storage Clean in 2024

Mr. Robot is your number one solution for mobile and laptop repairs in London, Ontario, and we know how frustrating it gets if your storage becomes full. The more cluttered it gets, the slower its performance; this makes for a rather annoying experience. Luckily, keeping clean and efficient Apple iPhone storage is pretty simple if you do things right. From novice user to well-seasoned veteran of technology, our expert tips will walk you through the way to optimize your device storage and keep it in the best shape.

1. Go Through Old Pictures and Videos and Delete

Of course, everybody loves taking pictures and making videos, but later on, those files will start building up. Clean through your camera roll routine, get rid of any duplicates or photos that no longer serve a purpose. Be sure to go into the “Recently Deleted” album and erase them completely for released space. Another idea would be cloud storage services for either iCloud or Google Photos, where you can back up your memory and clear it from your device.

2. Disable or Uninstall Unused Apps

Check out the applications you have installed and try to decide which of them you really use. Sometimes, you forget about those applications that you downloaded ages ago but never use. In order to uninstall, simply tap and hold the icon of any app until it jiggles, after which you will tap the “X” beside it to get rid of it. For a quick way to see which apps are taking up the most space, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.

3. Clear Safari Cache

Safari tends to cache a lot of data, which includes-but is not limited to-cookies and browsing history. This occupies space, and you open the cache via Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. This is going to hugely improve the performance of your browser along with freeing up some storage.

4. Manage Your Music and Podcasts

If you are an avid music or podcast listener, you might notice that these downloads take up space. Consider deleting old playlists or shows you don’t listen to anymore. You could also stream most things so you wouldn’t have storage used for downloads.

5. Uninstall Unused Apps and clean your iPhone storage

iOS has this cool feature it calls “Offload Unused Apps,” where it automatically clears up the apps that haven’t been opened in a long while but keeps the data. You can do that by going into Settings, then to General, then to iPhone Storage, and tap “Enable” next to Offload Unused Apps. That way, you can get storage back without losing major data from apps.

6. Check Your Storage Regularly

For peace of mind, it’s a good practice to check what consumes space on your iPhone periodically. Go to Settings >> General >> iPhone Storage to get a breakdown of how your storage is used to then check if there’s something unexpectedly large that needs your attention.

7. Optimize Storage Settings

Take advantage of the inherent abilities within iOS to optimize storage. For example, for photos, enable “Optimize iPhone Storage” inside Settings ยท Photos; the device keeps smaller, device-sized versions of your photos on your iPhone while the full-resolution versions are stored in iCloud.

8. Handle Third-Party Apps

Third-party apps are also available to help you manage your storage. Some apps clean up junk files and cache data, but do choose reputable apps to avoid any security issues. Always read reviews and do a bit of research before downloading.

9. Restart Your iPhone

Sometimes, such storage issues get resolved by simply restarting it; this clears out the temporary files and freshens the system. Simply power your iPhone off and then on again-a little reset.
